Number 8

Life's a ride
When finished ask yourself
Where do I go from here
What do I do now

Sports is my life
I have been playing for a long time
I love my family
They are a great support for me

I want you to stay
But I'm sick
Leave me and live your life
I cant help you

"Don't Go'

He told me he was going to be going away. I told him good for him and that I was happy for him. As I faked a smile on my face as he told me his plans and I pretended I was happy for him. He had been wanting to get out of this town. This whole time I was thinking please don't go. I need you here with me. I'm nothing without you. I was crying on the inside yet I looked happy on the outside. The time came for him to leave. I helped him pack his things. He told me that we would make this work so we wouldn't have to break up. I stood there as he left waving and all I felt was emptiness. The best thing in my life was leaving and there was nothing I could do. Weeks before he told me he was going to leave I wanted to tell him that I loved him but I was always to scared to. When he did tell me he was leaving I knew I couldn't tell him I loved him. I didn't want to hold him back from something he wanted to do. So here I stand now watching him leave. He doesn't know how much I am hurting or that I even love him. It is all too late now. I can't go back and change the past. I wonder if I did tell him that I loved him would he still be here with me. But I will never know because I never told him don't go.

Conversation from Arrow

Oliver: Hey
Loral: Please do not ask me if I am okay because I am sick to death of everyone asking me that.
Oliver: would never do that
Loral: Good
Oliver: You Okay
Loral: The doll maker was just your garden variety traumatic experience.
After the quake and Tommy I should be used to them by now
Oliver: I've had a few of those. You never get used to them.
Felicity: um excuse me Oliver may I talk to you for a second. It's urgent
Oliver: yeah
Felicity: you can have him back in a minute
Oliver: excuse me
Felicity: I just realized something. What if our masked friend, the one that keeps showing up everywhere, you know her.
Oliver: yeah, what about her
Felicity: what id we have been going about this all wrong. We though she was obsessed with you. I mean she showed up and the DA's office when you were there. And in the chemical plant were the doll maker was hiding out. But who else was at both those places. What if our masked friend isn't following you.
Oliver: She's following Loral.

Sonnet

He did not mean to make her cry
She did not mean to to upset him
She felt like they were hanging on a limb
The only thing she could say was why
It was a mistake she didn't mean to tell
All she wanted was to take it all back
She looked up to him and said Oh Mack
He looked at her but his face just fell

He held her close and kissed her cheek
She leaned into him and said What now
He said everything will be okay
All she wanted was to forget the day
All he did was furrow his brow
He held her tight til she was weak

Sestina

It was a beautiful day in Autumn
The sky was blue
The ground was covered in fresh fallen leaves
It was going to be the perfect ending
To the perfect day
And they would be together forever.

There was something blue
And a ring that would be borrowed forever
Everyone would stick around until the ending
She walked down the aisle full with leaves
She thought of when they first met three years ago in Autumn
There was no better way to end the day.

He was working in her front yard racking leaves
To her the work seemed like it would soon be ending
She was wearing a dress of blue
It seemed like it would be a long day
She had been wanting to talk to him forever
And so she did just that on that cold day in Autumn.

She was finally able to get the courage to say hi that day
She talked about the weather they were having this Autumn
She had had not met someone like in forever
He liked how she wore his favorite color of blue
He knew from the start their story was going to have a happy ending
But he did not like the sound of her walking to the house on the leaves.

He had known all along they would have a happy ending
It had turned out to be his perfect day
He would never forget that fateful Autumn
Now he was going to marry his best friend forever
He liked how the air smelled of the leaves
It reminded him of that first day they met under the sky of blue.

Now that they were married forever
The wind picked up and blew the leaves
Beautiful pictures were taken that day
And it was all thanks to the season of Autumn
And the dress of his favorite color blue
It truly was the perfect day with the perfect ending.

It had all started on a day with a sky of blue
The leaves fell off the tress in Autumn
And their ending was one that would last forever

Ode about Mountain Dew

I see you here
I see you there
I see you everywhere

In a kids hand
In the vending machine
In my fridge

You sweet beverage you
Oh how I love you
Mountain Dew

I sometimes see you on TV
and wish I could have you
In my hand so I can drink

I have loved you for a long time
and I promise from this day on
That will never change.

They try to imitate you
with Mello Yellow but
It is not the same as you

I see you everywhere
Mountain Dew, and the best part
I have you right now in my hand

assignment 10

The short stories A&P and Bartleby, The Scrivener  have several similarities. One of the similarities are the way certain characters act towards other. In A&P the store manager does not treat the three girls very well because they are not dressed properly for his store. He talks down to them and is not happy about there appearance at his store at all and just kicks them out. Talking down to three young girls like he did is not how a manager should act. The store manager could have used a different approach and talk to the girls that next time they came in they should dress more appropriately and let them go on with there business.

In the short story Bartleby the narrator asks him to do several different tasks that are not that hard to do but sense Bartleby refuses the narrator gets angry and frustrated with him and yells at him a few times. The narrator could have handle the situation better then what he did. The narrator then tries to just get rid of Bartleby by moving his office. This just seems childish. There must have been another way to get Bartleby to leave.

In both stories the bosses could have fixed the situation if they did not talk to the girls or employee the way they did. The bosses could learn something on how to handle confrontation. In the end something was lost. In A&P the cashier left and in Bartleby, The Scrivener, Bartleby dies. If the bosses did not act the way they did the ending could have been better. The store manager would not have lost his cashier and the narrator would not have lost his office and Bartleby would not have died.

A & P

When this story was first written the roles for women were different then what they are today. In the story the girls are treated poorly because they were not dressed properly according to the store manager. I feel like if this was written by a women it would have been different. I feel like a female writer would have said something more about how women were treated bad and how nothing was done about it most of the time. In the story Sammy likes the way the girls look. He was not living around in the time were women would never be dressed like that and were they did what they were told. The store manager did live in that time were women were always dressed from head to toe. Also because the girls did talk back to manager was a big no no. Back in the day that would never happen. Back when the story was written there was a distinct difference between the roles of men and women.

Mrs. Mallard

Going to the doctors today to get my heart checked out wish me luck
Turns out I have a heart disease :(
My day just took another wrong turn my husband just died on a train wreck :(
Thank you for my family for coming over and looking out for me
Didn't really want to talk to anyone so I went up to my room to be alone for a while
I'm starting to feel better a little bit better now
I think I will be fine now
Sitting in my room has made me realize no matter how bad things are they can end up better
I love my family and friends for coming out to see me
Well I think it is time to head back down stairs now and talk to everyone

Orientation

This is where you will be sitting. That is your chair and your desk. Keep it clean and tidy at all time. You will be sitting next to Tim Shoe and Sally Hart in this class. You can be friends with them but do not be talking during class. Raise your hand if you need anything. But do not interrupt me while I am talking. If it is an emergency just leave the room quietly. You are here to learn and not goof around. Keep your phone in your backpack or at home I do not want to see it my classroom if I see it I will take it away for the rest of the day and give you a warning. If it happens again I will let your parents know and tell them not to let you bring it to school.

These are some of the books you will be using in your classes. Do not write in them. Books will be turned in at the end of the year if there is any damage done to them you will pay depending on how badly damage it is. Do not borrow anybody's pens or pencils. If you need one come ask me. You should have your own supplies at all times. This is not a day care this is a school and you are here to learn.

Before school there is a breakfast break. If you did not have breakfast you can eat when you get here. Breakfast break will only last fifteen minutes. Lunch lasts half an hour after third period. Get to know where the classrooms are and the teacher who will be teaching that subject. Stay out of the principal's office unless he wants to talk to you. He is a busy man and does not want to deal with the kids unless he has to. Respect all the teachers and do as they say. Get your homework done on time and you won't have any problems getting along here. If you have any questions you can ask me or someone who knows what is going on. Any questions? No. Good now take your seat so class can start and welcome to Nike High School.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find

The short story "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" by Flannery O'Connor can be consider grotesque by the negative events that happen throughout the story. First there are the young kids who are disrespectful to their grandmother. I know if I ever was I would get an eat full of how I was being disrespectful. Being disrespectful to the elderly is a horrible thing to do especially when young kids are doing it and they should know some manners by that age. Another thing that is also negative would be the way the kids fight with each other and that the grandmother pushes it. Now siblings do fight. There is nothing really to stop it. One would think though if a grandma was sitting in between them they would not fight but the grandma eggs them on pretty much. Then the grandma uses the kids to annoy their parents so they can go look for treasure at a house that the grandma wants to see because she used to visit it when she was younger. This leads to the accident. Getting in car accidents is a very bad thing to happen. After they wreck and they see that everyone is okay they flag a car down to ask for help. While they are talking the grandma realizes that one of the men is The Misfit. Now because the grandma notices him and had to open her mouth he has to kill them now. He does it by first by having his two partners take the father and daughter into the forest and has them shoot. All the while the grandma is begging for her life to try and save the family by telling The Misfit that he is a good man he just needs to pray to God for forgiveness. When the two men come back they then take the mother the son and the baby into the forest and shoots them. Then all that is left is the grandma and when touches his face The Misfit then shoots him. The whole story is full of grotesque examples from the kids being disrespectful to the grandma egging the kids and bugging their parents to when they all end up dead.

The Lottery

In Shirley Jackson "The Lottery" one theme is man's ability (and need) to rationalist generally unacceptable actions. In one point in the story some of the people are talking about how a few villages have stopped doing the lottery. It is obvious that these villages think the lottery is an unacceptable action. Also the people of the village think it is rational to keep the lottery going every year because it is tradition and it what they were thought. Old Man Warner finds the lottery to be rational because by doing so it will make the harvest prosperous for the upcoming season. In today's society it is not rational to stone people at all. What seems to be a more rational idea today would be court by finding a person guilty or non guilty. Also we rationalize the violence in modern society with gang violence, drug loads, and mobs because that is what they are used to and what they know. Just because this is what we grew up reading it in the papers and watching it on the news does not make it an okay thing to get involved in especially if someone ends up getting hurt.
